Fine Spring Weather
One of the joys of living in this country is the change of seasons and after this weekend’s very fine weather I can safely say that spring has arrived in the Usk Valley. The birds are very chirpy and there are plenty of puffed up cock pheasants strutting on the lawn. The daffodils are in full bloom and now is the perfect time to see them all around the garden, my two bee hives have made it through the winter and the bees are already working hard in the sun. I am really hoping for a good crop of honey this year if I am able to look after them properly. You can see from the photo that our pigs are not quite as busy as the bees but still enjoy the sunshine.
Make the Most of your Day
This Saturday by about 10.30 everyone staying had gone out to make the most of the fine day; fishing, walking in the Brecon Beacons (with quite a few people setting off to tackle Pen-y–Fan, the highest peak in South Wales) and others setting off on and less strenuous outings to Hay-on-Wye and the Big Pit Mining Museum. This left us free to get things ready for the South African wine evening which went done very well with the 18 very enthusiastic participants.
Spring is all too short so get out into the countryside while you can as before you know it it will be the summer holidays and the roads will be clogged with caravans and the towns full of people who should know better than to venture out in shorts.
