Robert Macdonald at Gliffaes

As part of the Jubilee Weekend Open Studios & Galleries of Crickhowell Gliffaes Hotel is very proud to be exhibiting the works of Brecon artist Robert Macdonald. As befits an exhibition in one of Wales’s foremost fishing hotels, there is a watery theme running through the work on show, with paintings and prints relating to Welsh lake legends, along with watercolours and oils of rivers, seas and fish.

We have taken down most of our pictures from the public rooms of the hotel and given the space over to Robert’s fantastic exhibition. We have long been fans of his large joyful watercolours depicting life and legends in the Usk Valley and in fact have several of his pictures in the hotel bedrooms. I particular like his wood and lino cuts which I have not seen before.

The exhibition is open as part of the Crickhowell Art Trail until the 5th June and I encourage you to come up to Gliffaes and have a look at the work and maybe have a coffee or some lunch. Almost all of the work is for sale and Robert will be on hand for most of the time.

Now in its 4th year the Art Trail includes studios, workshops and exhibitions at 41 venues, introducing more than 75 artists  to visitors. Entry to all venues is free of charge. I would like to thank Suzette Pratten at CRiC for giving Gliffaes the opportunity to exhibit Robert Macdonald’s work.
