Four Days Exploring the Brecon Beacons National Park.

Do you still have some holiday to take and unsure about where to go?

Discover Part of Britain you may never have been to.

This is our best value offer ever, beat the low euro exchange rate and holiday at home this year.

Plenty of extras and a very flexible 4 night package, valid over weekends as well.

Last year we ran with this idea and it went down very well, so we are doing it again. Cheap flights to Europe aren't so cheap anymore when you add fuel surcharges, taxes and even fees to check your luggage in! Then when you get to Europe your pound won't buy anything like what it bought last year.  Having a holiday in the UK makes a lot of sense this year, easy travel and there are plenty of good deals to be had. And here is one of them.

Gliffaes Hotel makes the ideal base for you to explore this magic part of the Brecon Beacons National Park, South Wales. It's all here rivers, mountains, moor land, skylarks, heather,  castles and the quietest roads in England & Wales.

So much to see and do?

Wales? What on earth am I going to do for four days? Here are just a few ideas on how to fill a few days around the Brecon Beacons National Park.

●   Take your packed lunch and your map ( included in the package) and set off on foot on a good circular walk in the Black Mountains. Fresh air, good views and very few people. We can help plan several routes for you.

●  Drive through the Llanthony Valley, visit the ancient Priory and carry on to Hay Bluff for a windy walk with stunning views. Then lunch in Hay-on-Wye before browsing in all the second book shops and antique shops.  A visit to the Great English Outdoors is must.

● It is foodie heaven around here. There are plenty of very good restaurants to enjoy.  If you are here for a few days you will want to visit at least on of these;

The Walnut Tree, The Hardwick, The Felin Fach Griffin, The Nant y Fyn Cider Mill. All of these places are anything from 5 minutes to 25 minutes away and all are recommended by us.

●   Spend a day on the river Usk below the hotel fishing for wild brown trout, or just lie under a tree with a book.

●   See the National Botanic Gardens of Wales. Then lunch in Aberglasney's lovely walled garden.

●   Drive, cycle or walk the Three Castles Tour in Monmouth with a good lunch at The Bell in Skenfrith. About 18 miles.

●   A round of golf at Cradoc golf course - the golf course with stunning views over the Brecon Beacons.

●   Hire a canoe at Glasbury and paddle the river Wye. Follow this with lunch at the wonderful River Cafe in Glasbury.

●   Climb Pen-y-Fan the highest peak in South Wales.

●   Visit one of the oldest and remotest churches in Wales at Partrishow.

● Drive to the sea across beautiful mid Wales to Aberaeron. Have a lovely sefood lunch at the Harbour Master before visiting Llanerchaeron Estate. There is a whole page about this trip here.

●   There are more mountain bike trails here than you could ride in a month. We can arrange for mountain bikes to be for when you arrive.

●   Check out the Big Pit coal mine museum and then on the Blaenavon Industrial World Heritage site.

●   Spend an afternoon at the bird hide on Llangors Lake.

●   Explore the Brecon & Monmouthshire Canal by foot, bike or even electric boat.

●   Borrow our tandem and cycle around Talybont Reservoir and a have well earned lunch in the pub.

●   Watch the Red Kites feeding at Rhyder.

●   Have a croquet match in the sun and the looser buys the Pimms. We have a tennis court here to, and can lend you a racquet.

Enjoy art galleries? There are good ones in Brecon, Crickhowell and Abergavenny.  All of which we have bought pictures by local artists for the hotel.

●
You may just want to sit on our sunny terrace with a bottle of wine and read the paper!

If you still want more ideas you can see some of things I have done and written about on the Gliffaes blog, 'The Gumboot Concierge'.  Or get more inspiration from across Wales from the 1000 Things website. Loads of pictures of people having fun all across Wales
