Are you keen to learn the art of fly fishing? This three day
residential course at one of Wales's foremost fishing Hotels on the
beautiful river Usk is the place to start.
2008 will be the eighth year we have run
this course under the expert guidance of instructor, Bill Price. Due
to the popularity of the course we will be running two courses in
2008.
Dates for 2008:
9th - 11th May 2008
20th - 22nd June 2008
This is a popular course for both sexes and all ages (from about 14 upwards), in fact we usually have an almost equal split of men and women.
What will you learn on the course?
• All about rods, tackle, flies and equipment.
• Casting - for most situations.
• Trout - learn how they feed, where they lie and how to approach
them.
• Flies - making the right choice and how to fish them successfully.
Both dry flys and nymphs.
• River craft - begin to understand the whole river environment.
All tackle is provided except waders and the cost is based
upon our normal Bed and Breakfast rates
with the instruction costing £270.00 per person for the 3 days in
addition to your accommodation. There will be a maximum of 12
students.
The course is open to non-residents!
The course assembles on the Thursday evening to enable us to start promptly at 9.00am on Friday. The first hour or so will be in the 'classroom' with the rest of the morning spent on the lawn getting your casting right. From then you will be on the river. The course finishes after lunch on Sunday to enable people to get back home. There is an hour or so lunch break back at the hotel and afternoon tea is brought to you on the river.
The instruction is given by Bill Price, a member of
AAPGAI
(Association of Advanced Professional Game Angling Instructors).
Bill has been fishing all his life and is in high demand for casting
demonstrations around the country, he runs his own
tackle business in Mid Wales and has managed fisheries on the
River Wye and has fished extensively throughout Wales.
His instruction is highly informative and enjoyable and his love of
the river is infectious.

Send me an email if you would like more information or would like to book. Alternatively do call James Suter on 01874 730 371 for more information or to book.
Can't make those dates? Hire a ghillie for the day for some one to one instruction. There is plenty for a non-fishing partner to do; riding, visit a castle or two, browse the second hand book shops of Hay-on-Wye or just lie next to the river in the shade of a large oak tree with a good book.
