Location

Gliffaes Hotel from the pond

First and foremost you are coming to Wales, south Wales to be more exact.

Gliffaes is tucked under the magnificent uplands of the Brecon Beacons National Park, a destination for walkers, mountain bikers, fishermen, canoeists and bird watchers. Underneath the hills and through the wooded valleys run numerous streams all flowing into the rivers Usk or Wye.

Gliffaes has a commanding position above the River Usk which runs through the pleasant market towns of Brecon and Abergavenny. Gliffaes is midway between the two and just 3 miles west of the lively village of Crickhowell.

So Easy to Get to

Despite the rural and tranquil location we enjoy it is still easy to get to us as we are well served by road and rail.

By Road

Gliffaes is 3 hours drive from West London or about two and half from Heathrow straight down the M4. (forĀ  driving instructions click here).

If you are coming from the Midlands or the North we are about 45 minutes off the M5 (driving instructions)

If you are visiting other parts of Great Britain such as Bath, the Cotswolds or the Malvern Hills we are within 2 hours of all them and would make an interesting diversion off the well worn tourist path.

For those on the way to or from Ireland via the ferry we are two and half hours from Fishguard.

By Train

Gliffaes is an 8 mile taxi ride from Abergavenny station.

Abergavenny is just off the main London to Cardiff line. Trains leave from London Paddington almost on the hour every hour. You should change at Newport, South Wales for the short trip to Abergavenny. The whole journey should take no more than two and a half hours.

Abergavenny is also on the line between Manchester Piccadilly and Cardiff. For detailed timings and ticket sales click here.

By Air

The closest Airport to Gliffaes is Cardiff (about an hour), next would be Bristol (about 1hr 20 mins), then Birmingham then Heathrow. For all Airport transfers we recommend Airports Direct or Town to Town Taxis.
