Saturday February 27th 2010

Gliffaes will be hosting our 10th Annual Opera Weekend on Saturday 27th February 2010. This event is always very popular amongst locals and hotel regulars alike. For those not familiar with the event the weekend runs something like this:

Five or six professional opera singers, all with experience at either Covent Garden, W.N.O. or E.N.O. gather at Gliffaes under the guidance of Penny Chalmers and put on a mixed programme from a broad base of operas and musicals; from Verdi to Noel Coward.  A sample programme is shown below.

The performance takes place in our sitting room where the normal furniture is swapped for seating for 80 and a baby grand piano. The evening starts at around 7.00pm and is followed by a cold buffet in the dining room. Tickets for the event cost £50, this includes dinner and wine and a donation to the singers' chosen charity. Last time over £1500 was raised.

Dress for the evening is Black Tie.

Please do call us if you would like more information or would like to book. 01874 730 371.
