Trout - 3rd March to 30th September
Salmon - 3rd March to 17th October. There is a mandatory catch and release period from the 3rd March to 15th June. Coloured fish caught after this period should also be released.
Fly only for trout and fly and spinning for salmon.
Wherever you fish in England and Wales you have to have a licence from the Environment Agency. These are valid for one day, eight days or a whole season. They can be bought for trout alone or trout and salmon. They can be bought on line or from the hotel. ( A day's trout licence cost £3.50)
To fish for trout costs £24 and to fish for salmon cost £30.
If you are staying at the hotel you have priority and when you book your room you should mention that you wish to fish so that we can reserve a beat for you on the day(s) you want.
As explained on the main fishing page the Hotel has three beats right below the hotel, a further two beats about 3 miles upstream. We also have two rods on a long mile and half beat available form Monday to Friday, known as the Green Drive, this beat runs on from our Top Beat.
If you are not staying at the hotel please ring us to check availability and you may make a provisional booking. You will be asked to call the day before to check that we still have space for you. During summer weekends the chances of getting a rod if you are not staying are slim, I am afraid. If you are canny ask to fish in the evening when most people have come in for dinner and we may well be able to fit you in.
A brace of trout may be kept and we are very happy to cook them for you. We would prefer it if you released salmon (especially if they are coloured) however you may keep one.
