Popular since the 19th Century and a traditional export of Wales, Welsh Cakes make the perfect gift and are an even better afternoon treat! Within Wales they are known as bakestones or griddle scones due to the technique used when they are cooked. Comprised of flour, butter or lard, currants, eggs, milk, and spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg, they are absolutely delicious and do not require any accompaniment. You can enjoy them hot or cold – they can be found on sale almost everywhere you turn and usually feature as part of our Afternoon Tea buffet. Don’t feel guilty when you reach for another!
