Meet Scott McWilliams from McWilliam’s & Mount Pleasant Wines – New South Wales, Australia
Friday 25th January 2019 – 7.45pm
I was delighted when my friend and wine merchant Patrick Pigny of Enotria asked if Gliffaes would like to host Scott McWilliams of the legendary McWilliams family of wine makers from New South Wales for a dinner in January. For over 140 years and across six generations Scott’s family have been growing grapes and making wine, so I think he will have a fine story to tell and some very good wines to show us along side a great dinner prepared by Karl and his team at Gliffaes.
It’s fair to say, that with five generations of family winemaking behind him, Scott was going to be at the forefront of the McWilliam’s family’s sixth generation. This hereditary love for the Australian wine industry has led Scott from university, to bringing in vintages across the globe, judging at shows both nationally and internationally, being the family ambassador and of course, an accomplished winemaker in his own right. So much so, that he was invited to the Future Leaders program by the Winemaker’s Federation of Australia.
Make a Date and book a room.
By the end of January you will be pretty fed up with your new year’s resolutions so this could be the perfect occasion for getting back on the wagon! We will showcase a different one of Scott’s wines with each course of a dinner carefully chosen to compliment the McWilliam’s wines.
Places for this dinner will be limited and will cost £85 per head which will include a different wine with each course. (Canapés, starter, fish, main course, pudding and coffee).
It might be advisable to book a room for this event or at least a taxi home. We have double rooms starting from £125 per night for B&B per couple. We have run many of these dinners over the years and they have always been a great success.
