Whilst our gardens are open to visitors throughout all the seasons, we are looking forward to this May weekend in particular for quite a few reasons.
On Saturday 18th May we will be hosting a guided tree walk and lunch and on Sunday 19th May will see the rarity of us charging for access to our grounds, but this nominal fee will be going towards the National Garden Society and their supported charities. There will be special NGS Cream Tea available.
We would love to welcome you onto the grounds so you can experience the beauty and tranquillity of our landscape and gardens in person.
Saturday 18th May – Guided Tree Walk & Lunch
Our guided tree walk begins at 10.30am with coffee before stepping off at 11am with lunch at 1pm. This time of year is fantastic for our gardens and the trees – in particular, the Rhododendrons and Azaleas. This informative stroll is a good opportunity to learn more about trees, woodlands and the history of Gliffaes as you soak up the beauty we are so fortunate to reside in. Find out more here.
Please call us to book on 01874 730371.
Sunday 19th May – Open for the National Garden Scheme
Can’t make it on Saturday? Then come along on Sunday 19th May when you can explore the gardens as part of the National Garden Scheme (NGS). The NGS has a strong provenance dating back to the early 1900s, with them having donated millions of pounds to nursing and health charities over the years.
Opening at 2pm until 5pm, entry costs £6 per adult (free for children) and your kind payment will support the scheme in not only enabling them to grant visitors unique access to over 3,500 exceptional private gardens in England and Wales, but to also ensure that all money raised through admission fees, tea and cake goes to nursing and health charities. We will be hosting a special cream tea to coincide with the event, at a cost of £6.50 to include a scone, jam, cream and a cup of tea. You can learn more by clicking here.
You could also make a day out of it by visiting the Glanusk Estate Fayre first. They will be hosting their own open garden from 11am with stands, catering and refreshments, giving you plenty of time to join us by the time we start at 2pm. There will also be conversations with BBC Radio 2’s Terry Walton and more. It would be more than possible to stop by both events on the same day – better still you will be doubly assisting charity by doing so.
There’s no need to book for Sunday; simply make your way to Gliffaes and we look forward to seeing you this weekend.
