The conditions on the river Usk during the 2018 fishing season were extreme: very high flows early on and then late in the season with drought conditions through much of the summer. This made for terrible conditions for salmon fishing. The estimate is that about 160 salmon were caught on the whole of the Usk making 2018 one of the worst year’s on record.
