At Gliffaes we try to do all our major refurbishment, decorating and repair work in January when the hotel is closed, however in April this year we are re-glazing the roof of our conservatory after 30 years of service. It would not have been possible to do this in January as it would have been neigh on impossible to do any exterior painting in the pouring rain.
The work programme begins on Tuesday 3rd April when the old glass panes of the roof will be removed and taken away, this is estimated to take about 5 days. From around the 9th/10th April painting and repairs to the woodwork will take place for about 2 weeks. In the last week of April the glazers will return to refit the new ‘self-cleaning’ glass.
The conservatory will be out of bounds for health and safety reasons and there will not be any furniture in it to sit on anyway. The terrace will still be accessible. The two bedrooms effected by this work are the large double rooms with a river view, rooms 3 and 4, as their windows overlook the conservatory. The workmen will be starting work at around 9am each week day.
Should you wish to cancel or amend an existing booking because of this work please contact us straight away. I will be giving everyone staying during the week in April in our large double rooms with river view (rooms 3 and 4) a bottle of champagne as a small gesture to thank you for your understanding while we get this important work done.
I apologise in advance for any inconvenience this might cause anyone. If anyone would like to contact me personally about this please feel to ring or email me.
Gliffaes will be closed until 3rd March.
Online booking is available and reception will be staffed from 9am to midday from Monday to Saturday, so please do call us.
Thank you for all your support and we hope to see you in the spring.
James & Suie Suter and all the team at Gliffaes.
