With something close to a hundred different trees within the grounds of our South Wales hotel, the colours during Autumn truly are something to behold.
Take in the Autumn colours on a guided walk around the hotel’s trees followed by a two course lunch in one of the finest places to eat in Brecon. Set in 33 acres of mature parkland Gliffaes Hotel has a stunning collection of mature native British trees and specimens from around the globe. We’ll show you the best trees at the most colourful time of the year. Learn a little about the on going management of the collection and their importance to the bio-diversity of the landscape.
This year I am really pleased to have local author and woodland specialist, Rob Penn accompany us on the walks. Robert Penn is the bestselling author of The Man Who Made Things Out of Trees ((‘Beautifully crafted’ – Robert Crampton, Times Books of the Year; ‘A lovely book’ – Observer) which was a BBC Radio 4 ‘Book of the Week’ and shortlisted for the IBW Book Award. His latest book, Woods: A Celebration has just been published by the National Trust and copies will be available to buy.
