Bar & Front of House
We are looking for a warm, friendly, outgoing and responsible person to work in the Bar and Front of House.
You must find dealing with the public a pleasure. Well-presented and hard working, you have an eye for detail and enjoy giving good service. Your timekeeping is faultless and you are a reliable team member.
Previous experience as a bar person and some knowledge of the local area is desirable. As well as bar duties, you will have some Front of House duties. As bar person at Gliffaes you will be one of the first points of contact with guests when they arrive, as the bar is situated next to Reception. Your responsibilities will include looking after our guests and going the extra mile for them, taking orders for drinks and delivering them to guests. You will also take food and wine orders for various meals and show guests to their tables in our Restaurant.
You will keep a clean and hygienic bar as well as ordering some drinks for the bar on a weekly basis and undergoing a monthly stocktake.
Hours are from 10am until 2.30pm and then from 6pm until around 11.30pm. You would work around 40 hours per week. You must be able to work weekends and bank holidays.
Part-Time Kitchen Porter
This job includes washing up, helping to maintain a clean, hygienic working kitchen, some lifting and also heavy duty cleaning.
We are very happy to teach you what you don’t know but you must be a self-motivated and reliable team player.
Although being a Kitchen Porter is hard work, it also has its opportunities. If you are interested in cooking and food preparation, there is much to learn in a busy kitchen as KP is often the first rung on the ladder in a career in cooking. Most of the chefs at Gliffaes have indeed started here as Kitchen Porters and made their way up the ladder.
This permanent position is for 2 full days and 2-3 half days per week.
Shifts on 2 days are from 9am – 3 or 4pm and then from 6pm – 10.30pm.
Extra shifts will be either mornings or evenings and there may be some holiday cover. Total hours per week from around 25 – 30 hours.
All aspects of Housekeeping are included in this job.
Cleaning the hotel and making up our beautiful rooms each day, all to a very high standard, are the main part of the job.
The day starts downstairs hoovering, polishing, dusting and cleaning all the public areas of the hotel as a team as well as looking after staff areas. Later on you will move upstairs to strip departing rooms, remake them and clean them to an extremely high standard for arriving guests. Those guests, who are staying on with us, will also need their rooms serviced each day. All upstairs public areas such as corridors will be cleaned and dusted each day too.
This is a fairly physical job – great for keeping fit and active and very satisfying! Housekeepers at Gliffaes work as part of a team.
Hours are from 8am to around 2.30pm, 5 days per week including weekends and bank holidays.
For all jobs, salary depends on experience. These are all permanent positions. You must be able to provide up-to-date, relevant references and must speak good English. If you are not an EU citizen, a valid work permit will be required.
