During September Gliffaes Hotel hosted its first corporate cycle event and it was deemed a great success.
Thirty business professionals came together to take on a challenging cycle through the beautiful Welsh countryside organised by Jason Smith of Bearings West.
The day started with the Gliffaes providing hot drinks and fresh muffins. After the safety briefing, goodie bags were kindly provided by Cycling Weekly and Welsh Cycling.
Two routes were organised (60 miles and 70 miles) to accommodate the different levels, both including the infamous 7km Tumble mountain climb. Jason, a qualified cycle coach, was on hand to offer tips on cycling technique, cycle training and sports nutrition.
It was timed so that both groups would arrive back at the Gliffaes, get showered and changed ready for a sumptuous BBQ on the terrace. Beautiful steaks, vegetarian kebabs, fish and salad, all washed down with a hearty portion of fresh apple crumple – the staple of any enthusiast cyclist.
“The corporate cycle day was brilliant and some great connections were made, and we’d like to thank everyone involved in such a smooth operation”, Stills Design.
If you think you might be interested in hosting a similar event for your clients, customers or friends please do call James at Gliffaes.
We are still unsure as to when we can re-open. I think it will be around the 24th May.
Gliffaes will not be open for outdoor dining only – I am afraid the numbers don’t stack up for us.
Mark Drakeford, The Welsh First Minister has given no definitive date for the opening of indoor hospitality in Wales.
This matter is further confused by the local elections on the 6th May. If Labour is returned to power he tells us that he will be minded to consider the opening of indoor hospitality on the 17th May and I guess he will give us about a week’s notice taking us to the 24th May.
Online booking is available and reception will be staffed from 9am to midday from Monday to Saturday, so please do call us.
Thank you for all your support and we hope to see you in May and beyond.
James & Susie Suter and all the team at Gliffaes.
