When it comes to wedding venues, Brecon’s historic Gliffaes Country House Hotel offers near perfection. The ideal venue for a stylish and intimate wedding. Gliffaes is set in 33 acres of sweeping grounds with dramatic views of the Usk Valley from the terrace.
Gliffaes Hotel is not a ‘wedding factory’ with weddings every weekend nor will you share the venue with another wedding party. We cater to relatively small (circa 50 guests) weddings.
We do currently have some availability for weddings in 2021.
As a consequence of being a small hotel with resident guests being the main business of the hotel, we offer day time weddings only. By that, I mean, a civil ceremony perhaps, followed by a reception, some photos and a lovely lunch for all your guests. Tea, wedding cake and a few more drinks to follow and then the wedding ends at around 5.30pm.
We know that this is not what everyone wants and if you are determined to party on into the evening we can discuss having exclusive use of Gliffaes for 24 or 48 hours. We do this once or twice a year and these parties always turn into some very memorable occasions. We can cater for up to around 80 if you want exclusive use.
Every bride wants something different to make their wedding unique and personal and as such we don’t have ‘wedding packages’. I like to discuss with the bride and groom their ideas for their day and come up with a plan and a menu to suit.

Give me a couple of steers. Do you want a civil ceremony? Have you any dates in mind? How many people would you like to have to your wedding?
Kev and I would like to say the biggest thank you to you and all your staff for making Emma and Jack’s wedding so special.
She texted me just now to say she and Jack both loved it all and would not change a thing, and they have already said they want to come back on their 1st anniversary. Everyone said they loved the wedding, the location, the food, the hotel and the lovely welcome they received from you all.
I knew it would be lovely and special to hold this precious day at Gliffaes but it was exceptional.
A special thank you to the chef and his team for the amazing food and to the reception staff for their patience and the kind genuine way they helped everyone.
I think that several of the guests are planning to return as they could not believe the beauty of the whole place.
Alicia and Kevin
We are still unsure as to when we can re-open. I think it will be around the 24th May.
Gliffaes will not be open for outdoor dining only – I am afraid the numbers don’t stack up for us.
Mark Drakeford, The Welsh First Minister has given no definitive date for the opening of indoor hospitality in Wales.
This matter is further confused by the local elections on the 6th May. If Labour is returned to power he tells us that he will be minded to consider the opening of indoor hospitality on the 17th May and I guess he will give us about a week’s notice taking us to the 24th May.
Online booking is available and reception will be staffed from 9am to midday from Monday to Saturday, so please do call us.
Thank you for all your support and we hope to see you in May and beyond.
James & Susie Suter and all the team at Gliffaes.
