The recent flooding in the Usk, Wye and Severn catchments has been covered extensively across all news channels so I am not to repeat all that news. The local town of Crickhowell was badly effected over the past weekend where the Usk broke its banks around the area of the Crickhowell bridge. Many homes and businesses have been flooded out. I don’t think Crickhowell has been on the front pages of the Times and Telegraph on the same day ever before.
Perched higher up and away from the river somewhat the hotel was not flooded although the high winds and sodden ground caused three enormous trees to fail and come crashing down on to the dry stone wall at the bottom of the garden. No shortage of firewood for the next few years.
All roads leading to Gliffaes are clear and the bridge at Crickhowell has been reopened.
