Looking for an unbeatable Sunday lunch? South Wales offers exceptional produce, beautiful landscapes and above all, a very warm welcome.
If we were a trendy city centre restaurant, we’d be offering brunch on Sundays. Instead, we feel that roast beef and Yorkshire puddings go hand in hand with our Country House – so that’s exactly what we serve.
At Gliffaes, our kitchen prepares a traditional Sunday Lunch every weekend; you will always find roast beef and Yorkshire puddings on the menu. At the end of a long week, we cannot think of a better time to gather the generations and come together for a meal before the start of another seven day stretch. Take some time out and let us do the cooking and the washing up for you!
We always roast sirloin of Welsh beef which is sourced from Paddy Sweeny’s butcher shop in Brecon. Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese, seasonal vegetables and pan gravy all accompany the beef. Best of all, each accompaniment is gluten free!
In addition to the beef there will either be Welsh lamb or roast pork, a fish dish and a vegetarian dish. With advance notice we can cater for vegans too. Of course, there is also a good selection of starters and puddings to choose from, so take a look at our sample menu below.
Our Sunday Lunch is served from 12pm – 2:00pm in the main dining room and in the summer months can be taken on the terrace. Booking is required and strongly advised, so please call us on 01874 730 371 to reserve your table.
Parties and Bigger Groups
Sunday Lunch can be a good excuse to get friends and families together – we can cater for parties up to 50 but this does require a little bit of planning. Please call and ask to speak to James to arrange your party.
Our two-course menu is available for £24 per person and three courses for £31. Children 10 and under – £15.50 for 3 courses and £12 for 2 courses.
Why not take a walk along the river before taking your table? It’s the perfect stroll to build up your appetite or if you prefer, go for a wander after eating to help burn your dinner off.
