Here at our superb Brecon accommodation, we at Gliffaes Hotel are hugely fortunate to have the biggest and longest standing Welsh food festival just 15 minutes down the road.
If you are a chef, food journalist, farmer, food producer or just a self-proclaimed foodie, Abergavenny Food Festival is the ideal event for you! Read on for our guide to an event that is sure to get your taste buds tingling this September…
This delicacy filled event will be running over the 16th and 17th September 2017.
Through out the whole town of Abergavenny but centred on the Market Hall
Expect to see product tastings, kids’ activities such as a farmyard takeover and hands-on cookery lessons to adult’s master classes, dining experiences, markets and even appearances from upcoming and celebrity chefs. There will also be topical debates on the latest food issues and the future of our food, making this a fantastic opportunity for people from all walks of life to explore and learn more about food and produce.
How to book
The best way to experience all that the festival has to offer is with a weekend wristband. The wristband allows you access to an expanded Producers’ Market, a whole host of free events, including chef demonstrations, talks and debates, book signings and the Saturday night market. You can buy yours here.
Where to stay
If camping isn’t for you, our Brecon Beacons Hotel is just 10 miles from the festival and offers rooms with stunning views of the gardens and arboretum, as well as the luxury of a four poster bedroom.
If you would like any further information or to check availability at one of the finest luxury hotels Brecon has to offer, please don’t hesitate to call us on 01874 730 371 or check online here.
We are still unsure as to when we can re-open. I think it will be around the 24th May.
Gliffaes will not be open for outdoor dining only – I am afraid the numbers don’t stack up for us.
Mark Drakeford, The Welsh First Minister has given no definitive date for the opening of indoor hospitality in Wales.
This matter is further confused by the local elections on the 6th May. If Labour is returned to power he tells us that he will be minded to consider the opening of indoor hospitality on the 17th May and I guess he will give us about a week’s notice taking us to the 24th May.
Online booking is available and reception will be staffed from 9am to midday from Monday to Saturday, so please do call us.
Thank you for all your support and we hope to see you in May and beyond.
James & Susie Suter and all the team at Gliffaes.
