Over the years we have hosted a variety of beautiful weddings at our exclusive wedding venue in Brecon and we understand that finding original ideas for your wedding can be hard. With this in mind, we have pulled together our favourite summer wedding tips…
With a huge variety of flowers available in summer such as peonies, lavender, daisies, dahlias and roses, it’s the perfect opportunity to introduce more colour and variety to your bouquet and flower arrangements. For a personalised touch, why not introduce wildflowers, herbs and natural greenery?
Cocktail Drinks Reception
Greeting your guests with refreshing cocktails is bound to be an instant hit. Why not create your own signature cocktail to add a splash of personality? Our summer favourites? Jugs of fruit filled Pimms and Prosecco with a splash of elderflower cordial.
Fun and Games
Not only are outdoor games a great ice breaker for friends and family meeting for the first time, they are the perfect way to get everyone involved and having fun. Our favourites are lawn croquet, giant jenga and horse shoes. The stunning lawn at our luxury hotel in Wales is the perfect spot for some friendly outdoor competition.
Soak up the sun and enjoy the longer days of summer with an outdoor dance floor and maybe even host a live band. This is a great accompaniment to outdoor games and an outdoor drinks reception and is guaranteed to get everyone dancing and making the most of the beautiful outdoors. Our lovely outside terrace would be fantastic for a band at an exclusive use wedding.
Summer is the perfect time to add a splash of colour to your day. This may come in the form of elaborate flower arrangements, reception tables, props and lighting patterns. Think bright hues and fun fabrics.
We hope our summertide wedding tips help inspire you to work towards the summer wedding you’ve always dreamed of.
We are still unsure as to when we can re-open. I think it will be around the 24th May.
Gliffaes will not be open for outdoor dining only – I am afraid the numbers don’t stack up for us.
Mark Drakeford, The Welsh First Minister has given no definitive date for the opening of indoor hospitality in Wales.
This matter is further confused by the local elections on the 6th May. If Labour is returned to power he tells us that he will be minded to consider the opening of indoor hospitality on the 17th May and I guess he will give us about a week’s notice taking us to the 24th May.
Online booking is available and reception will be staffed from 9am to midday from Monday to Saturday, so please do call us.
Thank you for all your support and we hope to see you in May and beyond.
James & Susie Suter and all the team at Gliffaes.
