The trout season on the River Usk ends on the 30th September and with the pleasantly warm weather we have been enjoying at Gliffaes over the last few days combined with a good height of water means that conditions are tip top for fly fishing.
A 42lbs. salmon was landed at Llanover, downstream of Gliffaes just yesterday (Wednesday 14th September), so if you are after bigger fish now could be the time to strike. Please call us to check on the conditions, you don’t have to stay at the hotel to access the fishing, although residents take priority.
This short YouTube video was made by one of the Gliffaes ghillies, Frank Williams, fishing at Gliffaes last week when the water was really pretty high.
Gliffaes will be closed until 3rd March.
Online booking is available and reception will be staffed from 9am to midday from Monday to Saturday, so please do call us.
Thank you for all your support and we hope to see you in the spring.
James & Suie Suter and all the team at Gliffaes.
