October is a fantastic month here in the Brecon Beacons and especially at Gliffaes because of the fantastic autumn colours. We have so many amazing specimen and native trees within our large grounds the different shades of reds, golds and russets are something to behold. Take our Tree Walk to discover more about the trees at Gliffaes or make your trip to coincide with one of our guided walks we are hosting in late October.
Venturing beyond the gardens the hills and moors of the Black Mountains are worth exploring on foot in October, far less people around and the crisp clear days offer some of the best walking weather of the year.
We can advise on walking routes and set you up with packed lunches, maps and guidebooks. Follow this link to a walk I wrote about last autumn that took us over the Black Mountains.
A drive over Gospel Pass and on into the town of Hay-on-Wye to explore all the second hand book and print shops is another excellent day out. You can make stops at Llantony Abbey and on the return call in at Talgarth Mill and Tretower Court.
To take advantage of this offer at least two nights of your stay must fall in October. Call us now on 01874 730 371 to book and quote MAPLE LEAF OFFER. This offer will only be live until the 15th September 2014, so book now.
Offer is subject to availability and can’t be used in conjunction with any other offers and must be booked directly with Gliffaes Hotel and not through any third party booking websites. Not valid for the wine dinner on 12th October 2014.
We are still unsure as to when we can re-open. I think it will be around the 24th May.
Gliffaes will not be open for outdoor dining only – I am afraid the numbers don’t stack up for us.
Mark Drakeford, The Welsh First Minister has given no definitive date for the opening of indoor hospitality in Wales.
This matter is further confused by the local elections on the 6th May. If Labour is returned to power he tells us that he will be minded to consider the opening of indoor hospitality on the 17th May and I guess he will give us about a week’s notice taking us to the 24th May.
Online booking is available and reception will be staffed from 9am to midday from Monday to Saturday, so please do call us.
Thank you for all your support and we hope to see you in May and beyond.
James & Susie Suter and all the team at Gliffaes.
