In 2014 we decided to celebrate local food outdoors on our terrace – The Sunday Slow Grill – was born and it proved a sell out and very popular on the four Sundays on which we ran it so we shall repeat it for 2016.
Gliffaes, with its nod to Italianate architecture, will recreate Tuscany in Uskany by having a big outdoor Sunday lunch just like big Italian family gatherings . A celebration of good food, good company and good wine for all the family.
In the charcoal fired slow cooker (see below) we will have delicious melt-in-the-mouth slow cooked Breconshire pork with caramelised apples or a shoulder of Welsh lamb. Then on the grill we could have venison or lamb skewers as well as a whole side of salmon steamed in its own juices with fennel. All served with fresh local salads sourced from Primrose Organic Farm near Hay with and herb new potatoes. We will not disappoint in the pudding department and we will have a good selection of local Welsh cheese and with homemade pickles and bread.
Make it a long weekend and stay with us on Sunday night so you can have a nice long lunch, a stroll or maybe a nap before a light supper of soup and cheese. More details here.

Dear JamesI have never written to a hotel to praise them before! I cannot begin to tell you what an amazing time I had at your ‘Uskany in Tuscany’ or was it ‘Tuscany in Uskany’?
