We recently had Trevor Jones and his partner Pia to stay at Gliffaes for four nights. Trevor does not get around easily and has to use an electric wheelchair. Our ground floor bedroom in the cottage with a ‘roll in’ shower was perfect for his needs.
However, half the joy of Gliffaes is our magnificent gardens, the surrounding woodlands and river bank all of which is all denied to you if you are in an electric wheel chair.
Trevor had made contact with Alison Kidd at the Eco Travel Network based in nearby Talybont-on-Usk and had arranged to hire one of their all terrain electric buggies, know as a Boma 7.
Once we had Trevor strapped in he was able to go anywhere in the grounds and along the river at Gliffaes and of course he loved it. The Boma made light work of even the steep grassy slopes in the grounds.
On another outing we were able to lend Pia an electrically assisted bicycle so she she could keep pace with Trevor in the Boma. Together they made a round trip of around 5 miles to nearby Llangynidr and back.
Thanks must go out to Peter and Alison at the Eco Travel Network for making the hire of the Boma so easy.
We are planning to fully open from May 17th
We are also planning to offer outdoor lunch on the terrace from May 1st. (No details as yet)
Boris has spoken and it sounds as if ENGLAND will not be opening hotels until 17th May, I assume WALES will follow suit.
Online booking is available and reception will be staffed from 9am to midday from Monday to Saturday, so please do call us.
Thank you for all your support and we hope to see you in May and beyond.
James & Susie Suter and all the team at Gliffaes.
