The magnificent trees at Gliffaes are about to show off with one final hurrah before winter, we have lit the fires in the hotel, we have gathered all the apples from the orchard and there is one last rite of passage for the hotel as things quieten down after a busy summer; we sharpen our pencil and put together an attractive short break for the autumn.
In my humble opinion, Spring and Autumn are the two best seasons for getting out in the beautiful countryside of the Brecon Beacons National Park. There is a lot to see and do in this great part of Wales and to help you we have put together a short but varied guide of some suggested places to visit. Download it here.
We have put together a two-night break with few extras and the price is based on what type of room you would like to stay in.
The package includes the following:
Two nights bed and breakfast
Full three-course dinner on both evenings. No shortened menu and no supplements.
Bar lunch (one course and tea or coffee) on one day, perhaps when you arrive and you can then make the most of your afternoon. (Your room should be ready by 2.30pm)
The famous Gliffaes afternoon tea, perhaps on the day of arrival or the next day. Cakes, scones, cream and jam and, of course, tea.
(Feel free to swop your afternoon tea or your bar lunch for a picnic lunch to take with you on a walk or bike ride)
A carafe (500ml) of house wine to go with your lunch or dinner.
All rooms are en-suite and some have twin beds.
Luxury double room with a stunning view of the river Usk Valley – £369 (in high season these rooms without any of the extras are £315 a night)
Superior double room with glorious views of the river – £339
Large double rooms with views of the gardens – £296
Classic doubles with garden views – £264
Small doubles with garden views – £234

We are still unsure as to when we can re-open. I think it will be around the 24th May.
Gliffaes will not be open for outdoor dining only – I am afraid the numbers don’t stack up for us.
Mark Drakeford, The Welsh First Minister has given no definitive date for the opening of indoor hospitality in Wales.
This matter is further confused by the local elections on the 6th May. If Labour is returned to power he tells us that he will be minded to consider the opening of indoor hospitality on the 17th May and I guess he will give us about a week’s notice taking us to the 24th May.
Online booking is available and reception will be staffed from 9am to midday from Monday to Saturday, so please do call us.
Thank you for all your support and we hope to see you in May and beyond.
James & Susie Suter and all the team at Gliffaes.
